The American West Institute is not, at this time, in a position to accept charitable contributions.

Since its founding, the Institute has operated as a privately funded entity, its research, fellowships, and public programming sustained through the generosity of a small circle of founding patrons. As the scope of our work has grown — encompassing archival research, ethnozoological fieldwork, forensic historiography, and the occasional squirrel-related inquiry — so too has the need for a broader and more durable base of support. The Institute has therefore initiated the formal process of reorganizing as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.

This transition, while administratively unremarkable, is not instantaneous. Until it is complete, the Institute is unable to accept gifts of any kind, tax-deductible or otherwise, and respectfully asks that prospective donors hold their generosity in reserve. We anticipate this page will look considerably different in the near future.

In the meantime, those wishing to support the Institute's mission are encouraged to explore our fellowship programs, attend our events, or follow our ongoing research. We are grateful for your interest, and for your patience.
